There's a good reason these fanfics are locked, honey.

God, sorry for all the spam, s;kdkad;fd.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm a bit of a hypocrite. While I was completely fine with Patrick's "I read the fanfic" comment a few months back and thought it was kind of hilarious, evidently I cannot take nearly the same thing being said by Brendon and Ryan. This is most likely due to the fact that, um, I haven't really written a lot of porn starring Patrick and I wouldn't cringe and curl into a horrified ball of woe if he ever happened upon this journal.

Okay, on the one hand it's hysterical the way Brendon embarrasses Ryan so badly, oh my goodness. He doesn't even think twice! On the other hand, um. I can't help the way my palms break into a sweat at the mere THOUGHT of simple Google searches.

Yes yes, this isn't anything new, and while I DO like to entertain myself with wonderful scenarios involving Brendon reading pornfiction out loud to Ryan via his Sidekick, I also tend to think when it comes to this fandom, ignorance is fucking bliss.

*dies*

I can't believe you just said that.

OMG, and I was in an Office community talking to someone and I used the icon. She was all, "That's my icon!" And now we're friends. Hooray!

See!! Spence on drums transcends all fandoms! I have the one you're using now on my myspace page (which is full of my real life friends none of which are into these bands. :( Moving on.) and I get asked about it all the time. My response is almost always. "That is Spencer fucking Smith and he is SEX ON DRUMS and you should LOVE HIM OMG let me tell you all about my bandom."

At this point I feel we need to give props to [livejournal.com profile] boygirl_icons for stuffing so much awesomeness into 1 square inch.

*giggles*

Yup. I've got the same problem. Actually, my best friend is the one who originally turned me on to Panic! but she has no idea who any of them are, so she's of no use to me. :D

Best response EVER! I feel like we're little soldiers, marching in the bandom army. Or maybe we're more like missionaries.

*gives props*

Yes! We are missionaries! Spreading the good word! haha

You know, actually, I didn't like "I Write Sins" when it was on the radio. It was one of those things where, the sound was new, so I hadn't decided whether I liked it or not yet. I thought it was interesting though. And then the radio just played it into the ground and kind of made me hate it (back when I had Sirius radio I mean, it didn't get a lot of airtime here in bluegrass/country/gospel land). It was "Lying" that did it for me. Brendon's voice, it didn't just make me pause, I couldn't move, was afraid of making any noise and missing something. So then I Youtubed it and sweet Jesus, saw them in motion, and it's been down hill ever since.

You know what? I'm gonna post about this. I want to know how everyone got into these bands in the first place. I have to go back to work, but I want to do it now! *huff* Fine. I'm gonna go be a mature, responsible adult. *shuffles off*

I'm sure Brendon's parents would appreciate that.

I had the same problem with "I Write Sins..." I liked it at first but then I heard it so many times that I couldn't take it anymore and I really wanted nothing to do with them. My friend forced me to listen to the cd on a road trip and I did. I remember the one song that really stood out was "Lying," not only because of the way it sounded but because of the lyrics.

Am I who you think about in bed, when the lights are dim and your hands are shaking as you're sliding off your dress...

That killed me. It was so naughty but beautifully written. And that whole, A hotter touch a better fuck...fantastic. It's a really great song. Which, obviously, you know. So I always got excited when the song came on the radio. The thing is, I don't actually remember hearing it that much and I only saw the video once or twice. So basically, Panic just disappeared for a year.

I saw the post and I'm definitely going to comment sometime later today. I'm teaching tonight and I have to write up a lesson plan for my professor. I'm a little stressed. :D

Yeah, you're right, the words to "Lying" really are fantastically naughty and, I might add, very fun to sing along to. And he was, what, like, 16? 17? when he wrote those lyrics? Jesus. Angst thy name is Ryro. I love how graphic it is though. 'Cause those are the same thoughts I would have now at age 27 but wouldn't say out loud for fear of being, I dunno, undignified or something. At 17 who really cares? You just wanted to get your feelings out there and hurt/win back the other person. I love that that comes through throughout the entire album really, but especially in this song.

lesson plans *gag* I totally feel your pain. The lesson plans we have to do in KY are ridiculous. Good luck with that.

[identity profile] wordsalone.livejournal.com 2007-11-08 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I love about those lyrics. They're things that everyone wants to say, but can't for whatever reason.

I love every song on that album, but different ones stand out for me. The lyrics in "Lying", the drums in "But It's Better If You Do," and pretty much everything about "Camisado." My dad's an alcoholic and when I read about Ryan's history with his own father things just clicked for me. "Nails for Breakfast" has some lines that really resonate with me, but not like "Camisado." That's one of those songs that make me want to shut my eyes tight and sing at the top of my lungs.

The lesson plan wasn't so bad. I mean, I guess I'm kind of used to our format at my college and apparently NY is supposed to have some pretty tough standards. The teaching part went just fine too. I'm glad it's over.

I really like "Camisado", too. I had read some references to Ryan's dad being an alcoholic in fic, but I never knew if it was true or just something the author had made up for purpose of the story. I could tell though, just by listening to the lyrics of that song, that Ryan had dealt with some pretty rough stuff growing up. It think it's great that you (and other people) can identify with that and maybe get some strength from it.
