I LOVE this icon, why did I not have it earlier?!

[livejournal.com profile] maverick4oz has written a Homicide/Wanted crossover with Meloni's Dennis and Lee's Eddie. I haven't watched either and yet I want to reeeeeead it so bad. And I *still* have not read [livejournal.com profile] rhymephile's Oz/Desperate Housewives fic, dammit.

This came out of a recent post [livejournal.com profile] shleemeri made last night about Gryffindors and Ravenclaws. I was too fascinated to completely leave it alone, LOL. I'd love to see people discuss this.

[Poll #742935]

"Rescue Me" marathon continues today because I am dying to get to the Sully eps, hee. I'm also resisting the urge to post about how Tommy Gavin and Elliot Stabler need to have a brooding-guilt-ridden-Catholic-boys-who-love-their-kids face-off, LMAO. Because yes, everything eventually comes back to Oz and Meloni!sex. XD

I object on the grounds that your flist misunderstands the Slytherin element!

I just think it's important to remember that in Oz they're FORCED to maneuver to protect themselves. Just because the great majority of them are able to be conniving doesn't automatically make them Slytherins; I think you have to look at it as how their house qualities respond within that environment. Keller is emotional and all about those he loves (or those who loves/need him) no matter what, which is Gryffindor to a T. Toby is more restrained, usually thinks things out, analyzes, and evaluates - and reads a lot! :P - very much a Ravenclaw. The overtly Slytherin behavior is a reaction to their environment, and while how they respond does show who elements of who they are, I think it's important to interpret their actions keeping the other house traits in mind, and analyze THAT stuff, rather than lumping it all into Slytherin.

ENOUGH DISCUSSION?

*love

Now, O'Reily? Totally a Slytherin.

I LOVE YOUR BRAIN KTHX. ♥

Just yes. Yesyesyesyes. It's like my brain knew this, it just needed some poking.

And yes. O'Reily would rule Slytherin.

Even though I could barely string two sentences together?

Hey, so, go here and see how your default icon is looking over to the left at Keller, and the orange!Gryffindor!Keller is pretending he doesn't notice!

Actually, he's totally giving him the evil eye.

Great discussion. You make an excellent point about Keller being all about those he loves making him a Griffyindor.

But! Saying that some of us "misunderstand" doesn't make sense. This kind of thing is totally open to interpretation, is not set in black and white. J.K. Rowling didn't write these characters and she didn't create the OZ world. And so we discuss the possibilities and tell what we think. Some of the characters are more obviously one house while others are not, like Hermione seemed destined for Ravenclaw but the sorting hat put her in Gryffindor. Last year there was a discussion on LOST and who would be in which house. There was a lot of debate about Jack being Gryffindor or Hufflepuff (I strongly argued Gryffindor!) while it was pretty unanimous that Sayid is Ravenclaw. Back to my point, I don't think anybody misunderstood anything :-D

Eep! Just so you know, with [livejournal.com profile] foxxcub I tend to be hyperbolic, so anything I said in a flaily tone should be taken with a grain of salt - of course people interpret the house traits differently, I was just being melodramatic in defending my POV (...I fancy myself a Gryffindor). Plus, I really have seen too little of Oz to actually think I could argue this beyond surface level. It's just...my impression!

Sorry if I seemed like sort of a pompous ass.
