Okay, one more thought. Humor me, I've had the week from hell. :P
So this girl at work today asked me how I liked last night's ep. I said it was great, and then she starts telling about her husband's theory about how The Monster is motion controlled and the way Locke and Eko "controlled" it was by standing still. Well, I said, that was a nice theory, but unfortunately it's debunked by the fact that Locke was chased and somewhat captured by the thing in "Exodus". Which got me to thinking: when Locke tries to attempt said maneuver, he looks at The Monster and is suddenly terrified. He obviously didn't see what he saw before. Thanks to
queenbtch and her DVR, I now know that those WERE faces in the smoke, and they were faces from Eko's past. IT READ HIS BRAIN. So, the question remains--is The Island using this thing to control people? And what the hell did it show Locke that freaked him out? GAH. *brain hurts*
