HOW CAN MY FLIST BE SO COMPLETELY AWESOME?!

Now that I have that out of the way, let me pose a question to you:

Say there is a community on Livejournal that is devoted to a certain actor and/or the character they portray in a movie/TV show. Say that a good majority of the people who are members of this community aren't big fans of a co-star of said actor, and sometimes tend to get a little out of sorts with said co-star. Now, it is just me, or isn't it the members' right to have issues with a co-star in the name of fangirling the actor WHOM THE COMMUNITY IS DEDCIATED TO?! I am I just nutty for taking serious offense to people who have the balls to berate me on having issues with a co-star and feeling, you know, SAFE to voice my opinions in a venue that by it's very TITLE is not necessarily going to support everyone involved with this actor? If I am, then I apologize for my irrational outburst. If not, then someone needs to read the user info and back the hell off.

I think SVU is the first fandom I've encountered where the rabid fangirling not only centers around a pairing, but also leans heavily on the female side of that pairing. It's so bizarre.

You're not crazy. Like you said that comm is for one actor--not the whole show, or a couple--there are other comms at that. As a fan of the Mariska I know that there are other places to go to talk about my love of her or of the two of them together. And if you go to one of those comms you'll find just as much bashing--only they'll be bashing on Dani Beck--which is fine cause its an E/O comm. This is a Meloni comm and the only person that should be safe from bashing is Meloni.

I'm like 99% sure I know the post in the community that brought this on, heh. I avoided commenting there because I dislike getting involved in these type things, mainly because normally I say the wrong thing and it goes all bad for me, lol.

Anyways, I agree with you. If the focus of a community is one actor then let the community be about one actor, if people want a fair and not one-sided discussion of the co-star then they should create a community for it. But also lets face the fact that on a community about the co-star the actor in this community probably isn't always respected. It's just how it goes.
