As I would like to refrain from spamming my LJ today, I'm posting all my thoughts together. Whoa.
It 'twould seem there's grumbling coming from those in the Prison Break fandom about the mass amounts of het fic being produced and about the lack of slash. Well. While I'm the last person on earth to begrudge anyone their slash love, I can't see any real pairings yet in this fandom that work for me. Granted, if someone who's been a long-time "Oz" fan is watching this show, of COURSE they're going to want to slash the shit out of these guys, especially when T-Bag's running around threatening vague anal sex 24/7. It's a prison, there's lots of guys, and only one female lead. Makes sense.
But.
For me, the slash is going to be all about the sex, with great exception to Michael/Lincoln, and that's a whole other ball of wax. Maybe, MAYBE someone can make a really good argument for Michael/Sucre, but they'd have to try their darndest to convince that it'd be anything meaningful, because let's face it: Michael likes Sucre, but in the end he's a cog in the wheels. But, on the other hand, I could see a one-sided relationship being justified, with Sucre wanting more from Michael than he's ever going to be willing to givebecause he lurves Sara.
And I can't do incest. I just can't. It's a major squick for me that probably will never go away. I realize there's tons of well-written, poignant Pacecest fics out there written by fabulous writers, but I still can't go there. So Michael/Lincoln will never work for me. Period. But, when you have a show with two brothers as lead characters, the incest is going to come out in fandom. Just the way of the beast.
Maybe I'm just so wrapped up in my shiny OTP that the slash doesn't present itself, and maybe that will change over the course of the season. But for now, Abruzzi/Michael makes me want to shiver and die. And not in a good way.
Haha. I love how fucking psycho this fandom is. Go time yourself and see how long it takes you to find a post at Lost Forum on the Jack/Kate shipper boards that starts with "ZOMG THEY LURVE EACH OTHER 4EVA!!!!111".
I'm not even going to get into how my lack of interest in Kate has almost ruined my interest in either Jate or Skate. But I will say after watching the promos for next week, I don't really think Jack is just watching her because he's horny or anything because really, no one has libidos on this show, get real. :P My interpretation is that he explicitly tells everyone not to touch anything in the hatch (his comment "no one touches anything" backs this up) and then comes to find Kate in the shower. His expression looks slightly pissed off, frankly. And it would totally make sense for Kate to, once again, do whatever the hell she pleases and then look at Jack with innocent Bambi eyes in the end. *sigh*
And have these people forgotten that the writers are bound and determined to get Jack with Ana Lucia? Whatever. I'm seriously getting to the point where I don't even care anymore.
I just want my wounded Sawyer back in Jack's arms. ASAP.

YES! I called it, did I not? A couple of days ago. I said that all is not lost on the Jack-nursing-Sawyer front. It takes a while for a wound to get badly infected, and as slowly as time moves on the island, even if the two groups don't merge for a while there's still time for Sawyer to make it back to Jack while he's wounded. I am beside myself with glee right now. And I'm also fully aware of how sick it is to be dancing with joy at the thought of Sawyer having a life-threatening injury. But I have full faith in Jack to

For some strange and unexplainable reason, I'm leaning towards the het ship of Michael/Sara re Prison Break. It's the only het pairing I secretly ship nowadays, and that's saying something about the dynamic between them on the show. Even a slasher like myself approves.

Yes, I think you're right, because I believe it was Damon who said these first few eps would be very plot heavy and intense, and then things would level out. So joining the groups by ep 6 or 7 would make sense.

I wonder if this means it'll be a Sawyer episode. I know it wasn't supposed to be, but it got me thinking. Maybe the reason 202 got changed wasn't that they wanted to make 202 better, but that they realized the Sawyer flashbacks went better with what was going on in 206, so they pulled them to use them in that episode and then had to fill last-minute with the Michael crap.

I know. Blasphemy. For for every fandom ever though, I've been all about the slash. For some reason, this just jumped out at me while I was first watching the show. Oh well. So anyway... I'm not going nuts over the shower scene, but it did make me kinda warm & fuzzy inside. Kinda like the life-threatening/Jack thing for you.
To each their own, I say.
I can agree that Kate isn't the most well rounded character on the show, though. I think I more drawn to Jake than anything. It just works for me that he be with Kate.

Mostly because Michael doesn't strike me as the type for it. He doesn't really fit the usual slash stereotypes (neither the hyper agressive male, not the bleeding heart romantic, no intense obsessive taking!it!personally! hate relationship with anyone, not a "I trust in you above all others" kind of perfect buddy friendship). He's just too focused and controlled for me to buy that he would go some sort of crazy sexual attraction romp, especially considering that with the exception of his brother, he has known these people for like two weeks.
But just because Michael doesn't ping me so far, doesn't mean that slash is impossible or even unlikely. Just... not with Michael. And Michael isn't just the most attractive one, but also the one the storyline and interaction focuses on mostly. So even if the other characters have slash potential, they usually don't get enough Michael-independent interaction for us to be able to really see anything.
