A friend did a dramatic ten-minute interpretation of Wanted at a sci-fi con last summer. I'm pretty sure it was more entertaining than watching the movie would have been. ;)
I don't know about sound editing, but a film major friend of mine told me you can always predict cinematography based on how many minutes were filmed with natural light. The most outside wins.
