Okay, no! You don't have to be embarrassed! It's YOUR journal, and you should be able to express your honest opinion, REGARDLESS of whether people agree with it or not!
I don't really think people got offended (and if they did, well, it's their problem), they just didn't agree with your points and wanted to debate about it, expressing their opinions so that you could see where they come from and why they think that way.
