Oh, Ellen, you wish.

FIVE HOURS and we haven't even done Best Actor. Good GRIEF.

Seriously, did we really need a montage on American film? Like the rest of the world needs to be reminded what narcissists we all are.

ETA: MARTY OMG FINALLY. So he gets his due and not Peter O'Toole? :(

The number of montages is a bit out of hand, yes. Sheesh.

Srsly WTF. Ridiculous. Although the foreign film montage was lovely.

Yes, we were a bit montage-happy this year, but at least the show didn't completely suck ass this year, you must admit. I actually smiled a lot, and laughed even (thank you Will, Jack and John!) Plus MARTY WON OMGYAY!

I loved that song with Will, Jack and John!

And though I haven't seen The Departed yet, yes, some yayz to Scorsese.

Will Farrell and Jack Black should rule the universe. I lurve them, oh yes I do.

I'm actually not much of a Scorsese fan, but I'll give dude his dues ... it's a very good film (even though the ending had me going "... the FUCK was that?!"), and it was great to finally see him acknowledged on that level ... it was very long overdue. Very, very awesome.

So he gets his due and not Peter O'Toole?

What is up with that?? I mean, Forest Whitaker (too tired to check spelling) is a good actor, but Peter's a bloody legend... and he can't have all that many years left. :/

[identity profile] foxxcub.livejournal.com 2007-02-27 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's very sad, and I'm usually not one for giving awards to people just because they're "due". But if anyone is due, it's Marty and Peter O'Toole. I mean, shit...that screenwriter guy even said Lawrence of Arabia made him want to write movies!

[identity profile] rileyc.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They probably figure, since they already gave O'Toole one of those honorary, lifetime achievement Oscars, they don't need to do anything else. Which reasoning sucks, because people will be watching Lawrence of Arabia long after any of this year's nominated films are long forgotten.

*sigh* And wasn't that the reason O'Toole initially didn't want to accept the thing? Heh. You're right, though--Lawrence will be always be a classic. At least he's got that.

ETA: MARTY OMG FINALLY.

HE DESERVED TO WIN ON PRINCIPAL ALONE.

Yep, although I think Goodfellas is probably his crowning achievement. But at least it's not Gangs of New York. :P

I haven't seen either, so... *g*
