WTF.

Wait, so SPN is now ripping off The X-Files?! *cries*

Not ripping off. HOMAGE. Say it with me: HOMAGE. :D

Heee! That was going to be my exact comment. HOMAGE, indeed. ;)

Yeah, but the X-Files ripped off Rashomon so... ;p

Bad Blood was funnier.

Not that SPN doesn't have more than its share of crushing angst, but the Winchesters manage to get goofy on a fairly regular basis. It was more fun to see Scully get all dorky and lustridden over Luke Wilson. And who can forget Mulder singing "Shaft!"

[identity profile] halfdutch.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and let's not forget how X-Files ripped off paid homage to "Run Lola Run." Everyone does it! ;)

(Did you ever watch G vs E? It was this really awesome but short-lived cable show. They did a much better "Run Lola Run" ep than The X-Files one.)

Supernatural is like TXF's little stepbrother, because EVERYONE from XF works on SPN now. Just look at the credits yes I know you don't watch -- it's like a giant XF family reunion.

"Prison, Scully. Your cellmate's name is gonna be 'Large Marge'...she's gonna read a lot of Gertrude Stein..."

[identity profile] sarkastic.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't call it ripping off so much as a deeply loving homage. And, don't worry, even as a hardcore SPN fan I will always love "Bad Blood" more. :)

[identity profile] rogueapprentice.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
What, are you new? There is nothing SPN will not rip off. Nothing is sacred. ;)

[identity profile] gobsmackit.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I defy this "homage" speak! The show's trying to be SPN and failing anyway, this was just blatant copycatting.

John Shiban wrote it, so... *shrugs* :)

For all the Bad Blood talk, it was really more of a Bad Blood/Jose Chung's From Outer Space/Syzygy mix.

Here's what you need to know to love SPN... they will rip off any horror plotline they can get away with. I do have to say though that I think I remember which X-Files episode they ripped off, but I'm not sure so now I have to go download it hopefully. If I can find it.

Plus, like whoever else said, there are so many X-Files writers on that show it's almost X-Files 2 anyway. LOL. I stick with homage.
