Not that SPN doesn't have more than its share of crushing angst, but the Winchesters manage to get goofy on a fairly regular basis. It was more fun to see Scully get all dorky and lustridden over Luke Wilson. And who can forget Mulder singing "Shaft!"
Supernatural is like TXF's little stepbrother, because EVERYONE from XF works on SPN now. Just look at the credits yes I know you don't watch -- it's like a giant XF family reunion.
"Prison, Scully. Your cellmate's name is gonna be 'Large Marge'...she's gonna read a lot of Gertrude Stein..."
Here's what you need to know to love SPN... they will rip off any horror plotline they can get away with. I do have to say though that I think I remember which X-Files episode they ripped off, but I'm not sure so now I have to go download it hopefully. If I can find it.
Plus, like whoever else said, there are so many X-Files writers on that show it's almost X-Files 2 anyway. LOL. I stick with homage.

ripped offpaid homage to "Run Lola Run." Everyone does it! ;)(Did you ever watch G vs E? It was this really awesome but short-lived cable show. They did a much better "Run Lola Run" ep than The X-Files one.)

For all the Bad Blood talk, it was really more of a Bad Blood/Jose Chung's From Outer Space/Syzygy mix.
