Dudes like that are the reason they kept O'Reily straight. For real. Like luci_2 said below, I think a lot of what Toby goes through hits a little too close to home on a subconscious level for a lot of guys, and they simply can't take the fact that Keller and Beecher could *actually* be in love, especially after what Beecher goes through in season one.
