It occurred to me while watching the rerun of "911" tonight that this ep will more than likely get Mariska her umpteenth Emmy nom, even though it's nowhere near the caliber of Meloni's performance in "Ripped". *sighs*

Bah.

On the plus side, Olivia!perp slams are kind of fun.

Often times I find myself thinking that Mariska's acting is a little...overdramatic. I'm not sure if that's the word I'm looking for, but it's what I'm going with. I mean, I don't always agree with Elliot (sometimes I think he's an asshole, in fact) but one thing I can say is that Christopher is always good at it. And I always respect an actor who can make me rise above the unlikability of their character (which comes and goes for me, with Elliot) and make me think they're an awesome actor.

There should not have been sexual tension between Olivia and creepy child molestor, and yet, THERE WAS. *scrubs*

I really enjoyed Mariska's performance in this episode, mainly because she's forced to act against a *prop*, and that shit is not easy to do. Most likely, there was a script supervisor reading off Maria's lines, and Mariska had to do everything she did without even hearing the little girl's voice. That makes a huge difference...think back to the moments Maria is telling Liv how Richard hurt her and that when he brings friends over she wants to die. *sob* That gets me every time.

Now imagine having to react to that when someone is just reading the words from a page.

I am all over Teh Meloni, for he is a god among men, but Mariska deserves kudos for this ep.
