*fangirls liek whoa*
Please ignore this post because it is filled with squee and a massive, overflowing love for the wonderfulness that is Heath.
That is, unless you love him as much as I do.
halfdutch just happened to have this lying around her house, so she sent it to me. First of all, it makes me a little sad to see him smiling so much. Almost every shot is a happy shot, as opposed to the recent GQ spread, where it looks like he socially regressed in six years (*points to header*). Granted, this interview was done during the filming of A Knight's Tale, when he'd just gotten into acting and only had 10 Things to his cred. So yeah, he probably didn't own the cynicism he does now, or the wariness of fame and spotlights. But at the same time, I miss that sense of innocence, knowing that now he looks back on all that as the time when he had zero control over his career.
halfdutch also sent me a November 2005 L.A. Times interview with the title "Pretty. Gritty." and the subtitle "Good looks gave Heath Ledger his shot, 'Brokeback Mountain' shows what he's done with it", and that's so true.
But. Did I mention the pretty? While I could eat dark!brooding!Heath with a spoon, there's something to be said for happy!Heath. Guh. The blonde. *dies*
And then there's this:
He dismounts and clangs towards the monitor. He carefully studies his jousting technique. A crew member with 40 years' experience leans in and whispers, "I've seen them come and go, and this kid's got what all the great ones have: he's in his own damn movie. It really doesn't matter how elaborate the set is or how talented the other actors are--in every frame the great ones are always starring in their own private film. It's got nothing to do with being selfish. They just can't help it."
*dies again*
And that was written six years ago, kthnx.
Also, I adore that Brian Helgeland said, "When Heath smiles, it's Errol Flynn. Once every 50 years a guy like that comes along." OMG
khohen1, wasn't it you who was talking to me about him being classic?!
God. I love him.

That said, I'm sorry but Paul Bettany makes it so that Heath cannot be in his own movie. He doesn't steal the scenes from Heath, because he's always with the sharing, but... yeah, I definitely saw more than just a Heath movie. Hell, the whole cast is amazing.

Anyway.

My word usage was "old school" but yes, classic is definitely what he is. He just... yes. He's Errol Flynn. Doesn't he just totally strike you as an old actor in a young man's body? I just. Sigh.
And now, thanks to them comparing him to Errol Flynn, I want to see HIM in Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm all "ooooh, dude, how much better would he be as William Turner than Orlando Bloom!" Sorry, Orli. You're cute. But Heath is just... Man, he should be in a damn pirate movie.
Okay, stop babbling, Kelly.
